I have been preparing for the Gossip Girl reboot since I watched countless rom-coms years ago. Gossip Girl is the name HBO show that has gone back to being a TV series. The original CW series aired for 6 seasons until 2012. After disappearing from the TV scene for less than 10 years, popular CW teen drama “Gossip Girl” has been brought back in a revamped version with returning show-runner Josh Safran.
The production quality, exemplified in the hit show “Gossip Girl,” is a good fit for HBO Max, the network’s new streaming service. As Safran explained to Vulture, the old Gossip Girl was the new girl in town. “The first time, there were no expectations,” he said. “Nobody knew what the show was. We had to beg every location to let us shoot there.” This time, Gossip Girl’s the It Girl.
The Gossip Girl revival is set to premiere on July 8th for its first episode, they will be airing the next five episodes weekly starting Friday, August 12. The series will take a break before releasing the final parts in the fall. I don’t know about you, but I am totally pumped for this.
Unlike other shows that are being brought back with new casts, Gossip Girl has a storyline and characters that have been left alone and in the dark for more than 10 years now. They were once “It Girls” in New York City during the show’s first run.
Like Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen, the main characters were interested in fashion and had a lot of name brands.
With all the teenage love story series on TV right now that seem to revolve around high school romance or college drama, I think bringing back Gossip Girl is so timely with its new adult cast members. It’s time for the “It Girls” of NYC to return.
Blake Lively shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Gossip Girl. I’ve been stalking some of these accounts trying to find any leak I can about what happens next!
