Virtua Fighter 5 is the upcoming 5th installment in the Virtua Fighter series. It is an arcade fighting game developed by Sega. Finally, after a long wait Virtua Fighter 5 will be receiving new online modes as well as certain updates.
However, before the official announcement, the leaks and rumors ruined the preview of the game. Virtua Fighter 5 is expected to release on 1st June 2021. But there is a sad news regarding the game for the fans. Unfortunately, Sega confirmed on Thursday that a key component of the series– Rollback Netcode will not be featured in the Ultimate Showdown.
Reason behind the absence of Rollback Netcode
Sega told Kotaku that the Ultimate Showdown is built similarly as the Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. Fans were however expecting some online experiences. But all went in vain!
The delay based netcode waits for input that one player sends to the other player. However in the process, things suddenly slow down until the console catches up again soon. Thus, the Rollback circumvents this lagging problem. It simulates the sent inputs. In case the simulated inputs wind up not matching what comes down in actual, the game rollbacks and shows the actual issue in the processing.
Updates and more
The upcoming game will have free updates for PlayStation Plus users and will have prettier graphics than before. Apart from this, there will be an addition of certain new things such as bells, whistles, etc.
Fans are unhappy with the news of having no rollback netcode in the ultimate showdown of Virtua Fighter 5. They are comparing it with other new games having the rollback feature. One such game is Guilty Gear Strive which will be launched ten days after the launch of Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, rollback is considered to be better with great experience to play online games.
