## Answer and Explanation

Question: 1 Rabbit saw 9 Elephants while going to the river. Every Elephant saw 3 Monkeys going toward the river. Each Monkey had 1 parrot in each hand. How many Animals are going towards the river’

Let me just translate numbers into words

“One Rabbit saw Nine Elephants while going to the river. Every Elephant saw Three Monkeys going toward the river. Each Monkey had One parrot in each hand. How many Animals are going towards the river

Now it’s easy to explain, Let’s Solve it by splitting it.

### Step 1

As per the Question the rabbit is seeing those animals so Rabbit is not included in the count yet.

9 elephants saw 3 monkeys which will be = 27 monkeys (which will be in everyone’s mind if they don’t read the Question carefully).

### Step 2

If you mark the points on the question carefully, ” every elephant saw 3 monkeys going towards the river.”

This means Every Elephant is Seeing only that one Group of 3 monkeys Going to the river.

Now sum that up will be ( 9 Elephants and 3 monkeys which is 12 of total animals till now..)

### Step 3

Coming to The third sentence, “Each Monkey has 1 parrot in each hand“.

Each monkey means 3 Monkeys and 1 parrot in each hand, which means 6 parrots in this scenario.

### Step 4

Coming to the Question. How many Animals are going towards the river?

In this case, if you see a total of 10 animals are heading to the river 1 rabbit + 3 monkeys+ 6 parrots.

### Step 5 (But…)

But the question has asked: How many animals are going towards the river?

which Means The Parrots are not Included Because they are not going to the river by themselves, they are resting on those monkeys’ hands.

So there are 2 Answers

Answer 1: 4 animals The Rabbit and the 3 monkeys (Because it is not Mentioned that the Elephants are going to the river or not) or,

Answer 2: 9 elephants + 3 monkeys + the Rabbit = 13 animals are going towards the river{Only If the Elephants are Going Because Rabbit saw the Elephants while he was going to the River(One Rabbit saw Nine Elephants while going to the river.)}.

As know it is satisfying the requirements of the riddle

i) Rabbit saw 9 elephants

ii) Every elephant saw 3 monkeys

iii) Excluding the parrots as they are not going by themselves they are resting on Monkeys arm.
